EMMANUEL EPISCOPAL CHURCH

ALTAR GUILD  
Members care for the altar and sanctuary of the church.

BIBLE STUDY  
The Reverend Phil Reinheimer teaches Bible study at 11:00 am Thursdays. There is also a Bible study class between the two Sunday morning services at 9:10 led by Gary Brown.

CHOIR  
All members of the parish are welcome to be members of the choir, which sings at the 10:00 am
service and at special liturgies.

DAUGHTERS OF THE KING  
Members of this religious order undertake a Rule of Life incorporating a Rule of Prayer and Service for the spread of Christ’s Kingdom.  This organization sponsors two Quiet Days each year.  One Quiet Day is during Lent and one is during Advent.

EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS AND ACOLYTES  
Members are approved by the Rector and are trained to serve at all services.  There are two classes of training each year.  Young people age nine and older may begin the four step training program for acolytes.  

FELLOWSHIP ACTIVITIES

After each Sunday morning service people are invited to visit in the social hall and enjoy refreshments together.

*In early summer we have a parish picnic

*"Dinner 8" Groups meet in each other’s homes for four months per series

*Spring and Fall dinners are held in the social hall

*The Men’s Club hosts a breakfast on the first Sunday of 10 months of the year

JULIAN CIRCLES  
Julian Circles are women’s circles that meet in member’s homes for fellowship, prayer, study and meditation.

LITERARY GROUP  
A book is selected each month and is discussed at a monthly meeting.  The selected books are from a variety of genres.

LENTEN CLASSES AND WORSHIP  
During the Lenten Season, special Lenten Classes are offered on Thursday evenings beginning with a soup supper at 5:30, a Lenten program at 6:15, and Evening Prayer at 7:00 p.m. Two Ash Wednesday services are held. There is Noonday Prayer at 12:05 Monday through Thursday during Lent.  On Fridays throughout the Lenten season, sacred music begins at 11:45 followed by Stations of the Cross at 12:05 and again at 6:00 p.m.

MEN’S CLUB  
All men are considered members of this group. On the first Sunday of the month from September through May, the Men's Club prepares a breakfast for everyone.  Breakfast is at 9:00 followed by a speaker at 9:30. Speakers are frequently community leaders who bring interesting information about our community and world. The Men's Club also has two yard sales a year and assist St. Catherine’s Guild with the Shrove Tuesday Waffle Sale and Victorian Christmas Faire.

PARISH NURSE  
Our parish nurse works under the direction of the Rector. She consults with members who have questions regarding health concerns or end of life issues.

ST. CATHERINE’S GUILD  
All women of the church are considered members of this organization.  The Guild's thrust is community and parish outreach, service, and fellowship.  The Guild holds monthly lunch meetings except in summer. St. Catherine’s Guild sponsors the Victorian Christmas Faire and the Shrove Tuesday Waffle Sale.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
Each summer, we join with Peace Lutheran Church and the Grass Valley United Methodist Church to provide an ecumenical week of Bible School for children from preschool through the 8th grade.

VESTRY  
The Rector and elected members form the Vestry, the governing body of the parish.  Each vestry member heads a commission designed to provide leadership to help our church fulfill its mission.

BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS  
In October we bring our animals for a blessing.  All animals are welcome.

VICTORIAN CHRISTMAS FAIRE  
Women of the parish work all year to make items for this event which is attended by many members of the community.  Much of the money raised is used for outreach to those in need.  St. Catherine’s Guild sponsors this event.

WAFFLE SALE
The waffle sale began in 1917 and continues each year on Shrove Tuesday, just before Lent. St. Catherine's Guild is assisted by the Men's Club in this major community event. The money raised is used for outreach in our community.
